From energetic choreographies to heavenly vocals and overall captivating performances–Tate McRae brings it all on her Miss Possessive Tour all around the globe, which followed up to her last album So Close To What. Dare to say she was one of the summer highlights, playing in the Hallenstadion in Zurich, Switzerland. With an audience of 12’000 fans, it was also one of the few last Concerts of Tate in Europe for this Tour.

As concerts with lots of choreo require a huge amount of stamina, it was very impressive to see how Tate performed with such a consistency in energy throughout her whole concert. I’ve seen a lot of her performances online, but seeing it in person, for a whole one hour and thirty minutes, exceeded all expectations. Her stage presence was immaculate, and you couldn’t help but get possessed by it.
What I personally loved the most about her performance, was the stage changes. Tate had started of strong on the main stage, slowly working her way towards the T-centre of the stage which was connected through a catwalk in between the VIP sections. For the slower songs ‒ that took you down memory lane and back to Tate’s YouTube era ‒ she made her way around the arena to a small, round lifting stage at the back of the stadium. There, she shifted the spotlight to a more vocal-focused performance. For her most popular songs she took it back to the main stage and T-centre to finish of just as strong as she came in. I loved how she used the whole Stadium for her concert, as it felt like she really tried to include everyone, no matter which section they were enjoying the concert from.
Tate and her dancers used the time in between stage changes, to also change their outfits for the next act of the concert. Those parts always seem especially impressive, because changing from one outfit to a completely other one in just 3 minutes is a skill. Not to forget mentioning how the band on the stage, consisting of a drummer and a guitarist, always gave it their all to keep the crowd hyped.
Performance changes like mentioned above require a strict time management, which in my opinion make the whole concert build up even more notable. It keeps you guessing and wondering what might come next and how the performer will blow your mind even more.
My personal highlight of the show was the performance of Sports Car, which is kind of a surprise to tell the truth. Before the concert, it wasn’t exactly at the top of my favourites list ‒but hearing it live completely changed my mind. Tate caught your attention, starting off with some quick flashing special effects, looking like a bunch of camera flashes, followed by her sudden appearance from the dark. She immediately kicked off by lip syncing the song’s whispery intro with the lyrics «I think you know what this is», highlighted by her sharp facial expressions. The instrumental started playing in the background, while progressively getting faster and fuller of sound, until she started singing the first verse. For the performance throughout the song, the props included a chair attached to a moving stage rail. The choreography had complimented the lyrics well, which made the song come to life even more. I was so mesmerized in the performance of Sports Car, that it immediately climbed up high on the ladder of my favourite Tate Songs.
