With the help of soulful chords and a poignant story to tell, Sam Varga brings back the concept of setting it all on fire and watching it burn to the ground.

Despite the singer’s upbringing—rooted in Kentucky’s DIY emo scene, basement shows, and the classic rock imposed by his parents—Queen of the Ashes is an alternative country track through and through. Weaving a story of vengeance, justice, and chaos, Varga delivers a mesmerizing melodic catharsis that could just as easily be played around a bonfire as the sun sets.
With the help of artists Caroline Romano and Spencer Jordan, the song was written in a single night and immediately brought to producer Dan Swank. Strikingly relatable, Varga’s lyrics serve as an outlet for people who have faced similar situations and felt the same emotions. Although the track is short, it lingers profusely.
The contrast between the delicacy of the melody, the uplifting rhythm that carries Varga’s harmonious vocals, and the sharp lyrics telling a tempestuous tale of a woman seeking payback from everyone who wronged her makes this single a step closer to the final two tracks of his upcoming album The Fallout.
Set for release on October 10, 2025, the record features seven songs, two of which are yet to be unveiled.
