Openair Frauenfeld is one of Europe’s biggest hip-hop festivals, taking place from July 9–11.
This year brings a few major changes. The festival has been shortened to three days, dropping the traditional Warm-up Wednesday but featuring a more curated lineup. Another noticeable change is that free camping is no longer included, marking the end of a long-standing tradition.
Over the course of the weekend, the horse racing track in Frauenfeld transforms into a meeting point for international rap, hip-hop and urban culture.
This year’s lineup features artists such as Don Toliver, Yeat, Ken Carson, Gunna and Sido. Other artists performing across the weekend include Destroy Lonely, RIN, SSIO, Ski Mask the Slump God, BHZ and Molly Santana, alongside many more established and emerging acts. The Clubville lineup also features an impressive selection of Swiss DJs.
Shortly before the festival, Wiz Khalifa and BIA were forced to cancel their European tour dates. Swae Lee and Slair have been announced as replacements. Meanwhile, it remains uncertain whether Haftbefehl will perform after recently announcing that he is taking a break from live shows.
